The Canadian Grain Commission says some of the farmers who did not receive payment for grain delivered to Naber Specialty Grains in Melfort have been issued payments for their eligible claims through the CGC’s Payment Protection Program.

Producers who had unpaid claims back in June were invited to make claims against the $150,000 security posted by Naber.

Through the process, 26 eligible producers came forward making claims of unpaid deliveries totalling over $1-million dollars, however, payments for claims made against the security posted cover for only 14.2% of these claims.

The matter has been referred to the RCMP for further investigation.

Naber Specialty Grains Ltd. was licensed by the CGC to operate as a primary grain elevator in Melfort until May 8, 2015. It was placed into receivership on June 18, 2015, leaving unfulfilled obligations.
