A Kelvington company has pleaded guilty to and has been fined for violations of occupational health and safety that resulted in the death of a worker.

The company was charged with failing to ensure that a worker operating powered mobile equipment was using a seat belt or other restraining device, resulting in the death of a worker.

A guilty plea was entered on August 22 in Swift Current with a $70,000 fine imposed.

In October 2014, a 43-year-old man from Kelvington died after a packer he was operating rolled over him. The incident occurred near Mankota.

The worker died at the scene.
