The local Kidsport chapter is set for another round of their compost pick up program.

Chair Mike Ulriksen says they've expanded on the initiative by having pick-ups from this Saturday(Sept. 17th) all the way to Saturday, Sept. 24th.

"Instead of just a one day pick-up this year we've decided we will give ourselves a week to get things picked up. We're hoping to get a larger list of homes and people interested in us picking up their compost. I think a week of time to make sure it all gets done, hopefully that will spur on a few more people."

If you have any grass clippings, garden waste, small branches or leaves that you want taken to the landfill, the group will do that for a minimum donation of $20.

"In order to do that Kidsport won't give taxable receipts for anything under $20 so we've kind of made that our donation request if your stuff is bagged and then $30 if it's not bagged just because it takes us a little more time and maybe we don't get to as many houses because of that."

All the funds raised stay in the city and provide local kids with a chance to participate in sports.

"Once we have your donation when you look outside your door for sure by the 25th there will be no compost in your back alley," Ulriksen continued. "You don't have to be there to help us out or anything, all we are asking is that you make us a donation and allow us to serve in our way to help get these kids into sports."

You can check your mailbox for the mail out or simply call the Uniplex front desk and city staff will get your payment and pick-up processed.
