The Kelsey Trail Health Region has awarded four east-central Saskatchewan health care students with scholarships.

Melfort's Amber Tyacke and Rachelle Chubak of Star City were each awarded $1,000 through the Kelsey Trail Health Region general scholarship program. Tyacke is a first year student in the Continuing Care Assistant program at Cumberland College. She currently works at Chateau Providence in St. Brieux. Chubak is in her fourth year of the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science Nursing program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. She is working at Newmarket Place in Tisdale.

Carrot River's Janet Schmitt and Nipawin resident Brenda Belliveau also received $1,000. Their funding is part of the Kelsey Trail Health Region aboriginal scholarship program. Schmitt is in the two year Licensed Practical Nursing program at Dumont Technical Institute in Saskatoon. Belliveau is in the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, also through Sask polytechnic's Regina campus.

The KTHR says the purpose of their scholarship programs is to encourage individuals to enter the health care field.
