St. Anthony's Parish in Lake Lenore is announcing their church repair and painting campaign.

The parish is looking at raising $60,000 for repairs.

"The church is looking at some repairs for its upcoming centennial in 2021, and some foundation work has to be done, the kitchen could use some sprucing up, the basement windows need to be replaced, we are looking at re-painting the interior of the church, the bell tower has a small leak that we are hoping to fix up," Eric Gerwing, Parish Council Chairperson explained.

They have a number of fundraisers coming up which include monthly pancake breakfasts, and their annual fall bizarre. A few other fundraisers are in the making but no solid details as of yet.

Gerwing said they have a 'pail of paint' campaign underway, "it's to bring awareness to the general public and anyone with ties to St. Anthony's parish that the church is needing repairs and some funds to help pay for them, they can buy one or as many pails of pant as they want for $50 each."

General donations can also be made at the Lake Lenore Village office along with the purchase of paint cans.

Some money was donated already last year when council first outlined work that was required on windows and doors said Gerwing.

"Fundraising has been going on for a while but we're just kind of bringing it to the public forefront now, we've raised nearly $10,000 of our $60,000 goal and plans are moving ahead."

If donations can not be made in person, cheques can be mailed to Donna Haeusler at Box 204, Lake Lenore SK, S0K 2J0. Cheques should be made payable to the Village of Lake Lenore.
