It took about three and a half days but Humboldt has it's first baby born in 2016.

Proud parents Allysa Nivon and Tyrone Pelletier welcomed Axton Slade Pelletier into the world at 12:20pm on Sunday.

Axton, who was scheduled to be born on December 26th held off and became the first baby of the year born at the Humboldt District Health Complex.

He is a healthy seven pounds, 12 ounces and was 22" long.

Both parents are doing well and older brothers, five year old Pierce and one and a half year old Orrin are "excited to bring him home."
