The Lanigan Rink was host to five teams on February 2nd with the proceeds going back to a great cause.

The Lanigan Pirates Ladies Hockey Team decided to host a fun tournament, where the proceeds went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

There were five teams competing starting at 10:00 am with the finals around 3:30 pm.

Katelynn Prokop who manages the Lanigan Ladies Team talked about some of the other things that went on through the day.

"Throughout the course of the day, we have been doing numerous raffles, a 50/50 draw, as well as selling food and drinks. All of these profits will go with the donation as well."

Prokop also talked about what the cause means to members of the team personally.

"A lot of our women on the team that were personally affected, or knew someone who was affected by breast cancer, so we felt we should try to give back. It just seemed like a great reason to host a tournament and get some ladies out here competing."

Around 90 residents attended the fundraiser and watched some great women's hockey.
