A display of Christmas cheer and musical prowess was the scene last night in Lanigan.

At the Lanigan Recreation Complex, Megan Bowman was the live entertainment as the Lanigan Community Gift and Thrift held their Winter Gala on Friday. The event was one of the most popular in Lanigan in a long time, with over 200 in attendance for the event. There was a silent auction and raffle, as well as items from the store that volunteers have repurposed into all new items to sell. The proceeds were going towards the Mennonite Central Committee, and also towards the mortgage for the building of Lanigan Community Gift and Thrift.

Heidi Martens, Assistant Manager as well as the organizer of the event, told us just how much this means to the community of Lanigan, and how amazing it is to have such great community support. "It is hugely important, people came from within and around the town of Lanigan, and the crowd was overall very diverse and supportive of our cause."

The Musical entertainment for the evening, Meghan Bowman is a locally- based artist, who had her music featured at 107.5 Bolt FM. When asked about the quality of performance she delivered, Martens gave nothing but good reviews. "It was just amazing, she is an amazing singer and she even tells little stories in between her songs, it just makes for a really authentic performance."

The final numbers are not tallied just yet, but an expected number could range as high as four thousand dollars. It was a really great showing of how the community of Lanigan will always come together for a cause in need of support.
