The man allegedly responsible for the death of three Carrot River teens in May of last year had his lawyer appear on his behalf in Melfort court Thursday morning.

Normand Mark Joseph Lavoie, who crashed into the car occupying the three teens has been charged with three counts of criminal negligence causing death, and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The 39 year-old Lavoie crashed into the vehicle on May 3rd at a traffic stop in a construction zone on Highway 6 near Spalding. The vehicle being driven by the boys then collided with a truck, which hit another vehicle.

A flagperson at the scene was also airlifted to ambulance with injuries.

Lavoie is due back in court in Melfort on February 11th.
