Thursday afternoon special guests will make their way to the Original Humboldt site for an event coinciding with the nation's upcoming birthday.

"This is an event that sort of in recognition of Canada 150 and Original Humboldt," explained Humboldt and District Gallery supervisor Jean Price.

"We're recognizing and commemorating all the stories that make Humboldt a significant place in western Canada and the development of western Canada."

Price says a number of dignitaries with connections to the site will be on hand.

"Whitecap Dakota First Nation representatives are coming, her honour Vaughn Solomon Schofield, the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan is coming, the Governor General's horse guards are coming and a lot of local people are coming as well because it's still very relevant to the local community."

Everyone is welcome to attend, you must be seated by 1:30 for the Governor's entrance. The site is located eight kilometres west and three kilometres south of the City of Humboldt.
