This year's Festival of Lights is about more than just spectacular Christmas light displays.

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Humboldt are beginning a new campaign, which puts a focus of encouraging health and wellness amongst adolescent boys.

"The goal of the Game On Program is to provide them with information and support to make really good informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices," says development coordinator, Jodie Hergott.

Visitors to the Festival of Lights at the Humboldt campground are encouraged to donate to the cause after they have enjoyed driving through the illuinated Christmas light displays. A silver collection box is at the site, and all the proceeds of this year's Festival will be going toward funding this new campaign.

The iniative starts after Christmas and BBBS is currently looking for volunteers, specifically, males ages 18 and up, to donate their time. Hergott says there will be a total of seven sessions for each volunteer to complete, each lasting between 1-2 hours.

Hergott also says that interested youth participants in the program, boys ages 11-14, are also welcome to contact BBBS office at (306)682-2829.
