Local airports are once again benefiting from government funding.

Airports in Wakaw, Melfort and Tisdale are seeing money thanks to the Community Airport Partnership Program.

"Whether flying to work, a medical appointment or on a fishing trip, people rely on their community airport to help them reach their destination," Highways Minister David Marit said. "We are pleased to continue to partner with communities across the province to upgrade and maintain their airport infrastructure."

Wakaw will get $4,125 for repair and chip seal taxiway. Runway lighting engineering will be done in Melfort for $4,323, while a bigger project in Tisdale will see just shy of $125,000 used for apron structural base enhancement, apron surfacing, and apron and taxiway resurfacing.

The program began in 2007 and has seen over $6-million given to airports across the province.

Since its inception, Humboldt has received $90,000, with the most recent grant coming in 2014.
