The Stockbrugger farm just half an hour east of Humboldt is a Blue Ribbon farm, one of only five in Canada.

Lane Stockbrugger told us about the history of the family farm.

"The farm has been in the family since 1909. My brother Lance and I started farming 1994, we grain farm, grains and oil seeds about 4000 acres."

The last couple of days have been a special few for the family, having some great guests on the farm.

"Three kids and their parents from eastern Canada, actually all out of Montreal area, urban kids who want to learn more about agriculture and where their food comes from. So those three kids are traveling with chef Chuck Hughes who will be doing some cooking with canola right here on the farm."

The Stockbrugger farm is considered a Blue Ribbon farm with Hellman's which is something that is rare. There are only 5 in Canada Stockbrugger told us.

"We went through a series of questioning all around protecting the environment, and sustainable development, protecting water sources, shelter belts, soil erosion, and really how we can be the best farmer we can be."

The local farmers have shown the kids a lot of great things around farm, from auto drive tractors, to planting trees, and checking canola for readiness.

Thursday night at 6 there is live cooking demonstration being done on the farm that will be live streamed online that everyone is invited to watch. You can find the link here.
