Christmas has come and gone for 2018, and Humboldt's local economy was well supported throughout this holiday season.

"It is important all year because these (business-owners) are people who live in our community, and they are tax-paying, contributing members to our society, so it is important to make sure we give support to our local businesses," said Brent Fitzpatrick, Executive Director with the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce.

Shopping locally not only helps out local business owners but also many organizations within the community.

"It means the world, the business owners in this community give back to numerous organizations that do amazing works, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Food Bank, and so on and so forth. So by supporting them, you are actually supporting your community in the long run."
