As the area experiences tastes of summery weather, youngsters are heading outdoors and enjoying riding bikes, skateboards and scooters.
Safe Communities of Humboldt & Area want to make sure children enjoy these outdoor activities safely.
The fifth annual Bike Rodeo and Safety Day took place on Saturday at the HCI parking lot. All of the emergency services were present, as well as the Acquired Brain Injury Team ATV & UTV Safety and the SGI Safety Squad.
The teams were there to educate kids about helmet safety in a fun, interactive way, with bike obstacle courses, a bike safety check, helmet fittings, and free helmet giveaways.
"It's a really good kick-off to our spring and summer season...Bringing safety to the top of mind today," says Shari Hinz, Executive Director/Program Coordinator for Safe Communities Humboldt and Area.
"Helmet safety is something we support and want to promote. We want to make sure that everybody's being safe."
Hinz would like to thank the program supporters, including the Good Neighbour Store, Humboldt Emergency Services, Saskatchewan Lotteries, Saskatchewan Prevention Institute and Universal Sports.
