The Melfort RCMP have laid charges against one man stemming from a stabbing incident on the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, around 5:30 the Melfort RCMP responded to the James Smith First Nation after a report of an injured 30 year-old man. He was transported by ambulance to Melfort hospital and was later transported to Saskatoon via STARS. The victim suffered one stab wound and is currently in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Two hours following the incident, 30 year-old Prince Albert man Curtis Brian Black was arrested and eventually charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of fail to comply with a probation order.

He has been remanded and will make his first court appearance in Melfort Provincial Court Tuesday.
