Maple Madness is back for the Manitou Beach area by Watrous starting on Thursday.

The event features chainsaw carvers, axe throwing, rides for the kids, and also great food options for four full days.

Brendan Manz with Watrous Manitou Marketing Group and Community Development Officer for the area told us about the carvers that are coming.

"We have about ten carvers coming out from as far away as Indiana that are actually making the trip. They will be putting on their display and then starting their work on Thursday."

These carvers will be working for four days to complete their masterpieces and then most of the pieces will remain in the area of Watrous and Manitou.

The axe throwing will have demonstrations on the weekend, Friday and Saturday, led by Kat Spence, Lumber Jill. There will also be seminars on axe throwing those two days as well.

The weekend will also be an opportunity for a local group to earn some money starting on Friday night.

Manz gives us the details.

"We are actually going to be doing a silent auction throughout the rest of the weekend and people can bid on the pieces that they want and half the proceeds are going to go to the daycare here in Watrous."

The silent auction items will be smaller carvings that the competitors will have two hours to carve on Friday evening.

The event is $5.00 a day or you can purchase a weekend pass for $15.00.

Manz suggests if anyone has any questions regarding the weekend event they can check it out here.
