A fundraising group in LeRoy is turning their efforts towards a daycare facility in the town now that the arena is complete.

On Saturday night they are hosting a Mardi Gras themed event with all the proceeds going towards a daycare centre.

Organizing committee member Kimberly Block has more details.

"Dress up is encouraged, there is a hypnotist, a comedy show, a DJ. We also have lots of silent auction items and the larger items we received are going to be a live auction."

Tickets are $30 each or a table for $200, the deadline to purchase is 12pm on Thursday.

"Usually every year this group of ladies gets together," Block added . "They always hold fundraising events in LeRoy so then the last couple years they've donated the proceeds to the rink and now a daycare has come up. When we had our meeting we just threw around ideas of something we would like to see in LeRoy so this is something we've never done."

You can call Block at 306.65.7868 or Melissa Tuplin at 306.287.7106. Tickets are also available at the LeRoy Credit Union, the LeRoy Hotel or at the town office.

Although still in the early stages it is exciting for the community to move onto a new, possibly town changing amenity.

"It's just people in town that are willing to babysit kids so parents can go to work," Block explained. "A daycare would be huge, we have a brand new rink, adding a daycare to our town would attract lots of new families and just be good for the community."

The event begins at 6:30 at the LeRoy School gymnasium.
