The family of a Melfort woman who died while teaching in China is close to having her remains return home.

Alicia Garlock's family posted an update through their GoFundMe page that they have been able to pay the $250,000 medical bill to have her body return home thanks to the online fundraiser, private donations, and bank loans.

The update says that Garlock's body has been cremated, but the timeline of when they will receive her remains is still unclear.

The page will remain up to help cover other expenses and help out Garlock's partner and daughter.

They are also advising those working outside of Canada to know how much health insurance they have and to consider getting more if it is not enough.
