The Humboldt and District Gallery is getting a visit from Champêtre County on Thursday night.

Arthur Denis is going to be launching his book 'Memories of the Sheriff of Champêtre Country'. He will also be doing a reading beginning at 7:00.

Cultural Programmer Leah Terry says that Denis got in touch with them, looking to introduce his book in Humboldt.

"He wanted to do a launch here at the gallery. We're very happy to support him. He is involved in the tourism industry. On the way to Saskatoon, a lot of people probably recognize the sign Champêtre County. He does accommodations out there, meals, events, so it's a tourist attraction for Saskatchewan."

Champêtre County was established by Arthur and his wife Therese in 1995, and is open year round. The ranch is located at St. Denis, 75 kilometres west of Humboldt.

Through the 21 years of the farm's existence, Terry notes that many have come to enjoy Denis' wit and humour.

"He is quite the character, so it should be very entertaining."

She adds that they have seen a rise from individuals looking to come to Humboldt to play music, or launch a book.

"We've definitely had a number of people in the last little while contact us to do concerts in the gallery. Book launches are something that we have had more of in the last year," she explained. "Anybody who is looking to rent the gallery can contact us, and we're very happy to rent it out. It's a great space to have a concert, book launch, or other event."

The event is free to attend.
