With highway construction season well underway, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is trying to ensure all work zones are set up correctly.

To ensure all work zones are correctly set up, there are reminding motorists they can help by reporting any missing or inappropriate signage.

Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit shared the importance of having proper signage posted for work zone areas.

"It's just important for the public that the signage is in place and it's also important for the workers so let's make that very clear also, I mean there's flagers out there and there's workers out there so we want to make sure that everyone is aware that they are entering into a work zone."

Marit added It's important that everybody is safe and protected whether they're driving through a work zone or working in it.

Marit also spoke about traffic delays cause by road construction, "people are on holidays or there getting to and from work or whatever the case made be but I would just hope that everyone really respects the work zone and it could cause you maybe five or ten minutes delay in you getting to your destination and I hope that everyone can recognize that five or ten minutes really isn't the end of the world."

Motorists can plan their trip ahead of time by checking the Highway Hotline.
