Alex Slusar is disappointed he won't have a seat in Ottawa following Monday night's election but the young Liberal is quite pleased with the outcome.

Slusar finished third behind Kelly Block and New Democrat Glenn Wright in the Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek riding with 14.4 percent of the votes.

He said Monday night running in the riding was a positive experience.

"Everywhere from Humboldt to Warman, to Martensville, to Rosetown, Biggar, all the town councils, all the doors I knocked on, the quality of people we have in Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek is just fantastic. It's an honour and a privilege to not only cast myself in there to attempt to represent them but also just to work and get to know everyone as well."

The first time candidate admits the election was an amazing experience for him and his party.

"On the more local level, of course it would be nice to be part of it in terms of going to Ottawa and representing the people of Carlton Trail-Eagle Creek but at the same time when I look at what we've accomplished everyone that was part of a team that has done something extraordinary."

The Liberals staked claim with a majority government collecting 184 seats of the 338 possible.

Overall he was very pleased with the nation wanting change.

"You were all part of something that maybe it didn't result in the majority decision but it was something that made a statement for the kind of change you want to see in Canada. For everyone who cast a vote I am so deeply humbled and privileged to have had your support in this election."

Slusar said he will likely let his name stand again in future votes.
