The Naicam Snowblasters are going into the another season of not only snowmobiling but trail grooming and maintenance in the area.

They will hold their monthly meeting that is open to the public on Thursday at the Annaheim Seniors Centre.

Club Member Lambert Stumburg said the trails are an important part of snowmobiling.

"It's really a safety thing, the way I always describe it is when I take my kids out is if there is somebody missing from your group, they are either up ahead of you or they're behind you and out of gas," Stumburg explained.  "There's just so few issues that can happen on those trails, especially for young people learning the sport, it's just fantastic to learn on the trails."

The trail that comes to Humboldt is connected to the entire trail system that runs into Manitoba and Ontario.

The Snowblasters group covers a large area Stumburg said, "they go Naicam, Spalding, Watson, Englefeld, St. Gregor, Annaheim, Pleasantdale, Kipabiskau."

Their monthly meeting gets underway at 7:30pm and are welcoming new members.

"Everybody is welcome and that's the point I'd really like to make is that for years I never went to the Snowblasters meeting because it was the Naicam Snowblasters and they've made it really clear that they want people from Humboldt, Watson, Lake Lenore, everywhere in the area that takes advantage of using these great trails, they want them at these meetings so they can have their input."

A fundraising poker rally will be held this year on January 30th which takes place on the groomed trails with two different routes.

Stumburg added that anyone who puts plates on their snowmobiles is actually supporting their local club with $90 going to the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Trails and Safety Programs.
