SaskEnergy says a pipeline rupture is to blame for a loss in service to homes and businesses in St. Brieux and Melfort.

The rupture is on a high pressure transmission line between Weldon and Birch Hills. Repairs are expected to continue into the evening and be completed later tonight.

Around 4,500 customers have been affected, according to SaskEnergy. More than 40 technicians will be in Melfort, Kinistino, St. Brieux and surrounding rural areas, working through the night to safely relight and restart appliances, the agency says.
