For the past four years, the city of Humboldt has proclaimed Naturopathic Medicine Week; a week also recognized on provincial and national levels.

On Tuesday night, Dr. Megan Parker, ND, met with Humboldt Mayor Rob Muench to discuss the proclamation of this year's Naturopathic Medicine Week, May 14th-20th.

Dr. Parker says the intent of the week is to bring attention and awareness to naturopathic medicine in the community and beyond. She says the week is a great way to bring awareness, give information, highlight options for health care and ways to improve natural health functioning. With naturopathic medicine, traditionally-regulated health care is combined with natural treatment options.

After experiencing the benefit of natural medicine when she was younger, Dr. Parker then wanted to pursue it more and share it with others.

"It's a combination of medical training and naturally-focused treatments. I really enjoy utilizing both worlds with helping my patients," Dr. Parker says.
