The farmer elected to Wadena council in yesterday’s by-election wants to improve communication in the town.

“Between the workers, the councillors and the Town of Wadena people, I want people to know what's going on and get involved themselves if they need to help,” Jody Christianson said.

“We just need everybody on the same page and everyone needs to know what’s going on because I think they’re more than willing to get involved."

The first-time candidate won with 178 votes. Over the past two years he got a chance to talk to people and hear their concerns as he went door-to-door picking up compost for the town, he said.

Christianson said he was elated when he heard the results, and was glad people were willing to go out and have their say.

Dennis Berezuik got 63 votes and Stephanie Turnbull got 12.
