A long time in the making but Humboldt can finally welcome the refugee family that we have all been waiting for.

The Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition worked for over a year to get the family to Humboldt.

Sheena Walls-Ingram a member with HARC was at the airport when the family arrived.

"It was a long time in the coming, the Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition has worked long and hard for over a year, to apply for a family and help bring them here and the day finally came about a week ago last Wednesday."

Ingram was very excited, along with her seven year old son, to be able to experience the arrival.

"When I picked them up from the airport I turned to Sena, whose the mom of the family and said, 'It's hard to believe that your here', using my translator app, and she said in plain English to me, 'It's a dream'."

The HARC plans to have some fundraisers coming up in the next few months to help out the family as they are just getting settled.

Ingram says that they are around town and have been shown different shopping places and logistics of the community.

"Smiles and waves go a long way and you will see them around town, there's three adorable little kids: two boys, age three and four and a little baby girl."

The family consists of, Abdulkerim and Sena, their children Ahmed, Abdulhak, and Nur.
