The Village of Muenster held a Ribbon Cutting for their new playground on Thursday.

Muenster Playground Committee Member Charmain Baril tells us why they needed a new playground.

"The playground they had there before was 25 years old and was built with wood and kind of falling apart. Kids were getting hurt and it was just time for an upgrade. The school was changing the parking lot so we moved the playground back and put a fence around it so it's separated with no traffic going between the school and playground anymore."

The playground was installed in the second week of July, with help from many community events.

"We held some fundraisers, we had some events, we got lots of donations and we got some grants," explained Baril.

The ribbon cutting was held in conjunction with the Muenster School Open House and a hot dog barbecue.
