Twenty-three students from the area are benefiting from BHP Billiton's 2017 scholarship program.

The program, for the Jansen Potash Project, is in coordinator with Carlton Trail College, and rewards recent high school graduates and returning post-secondary students from local communities.

BHP says 14 scholarships with a value of $2,500 were presented to high school graduates from 10 schools in the Horizon School Division. There was also 16 youth from six First Nations communities to receive scholarships totalling $30,000.

Since the program began in 2013, BHP has provided over $320,000 worth of scholarships.
