A newly proposed trespassing law for Saskatchewan could affect hunters in the local area.

On Tuesday, amendments were tabled to three pieces of legislation involving the trespassing law. The changes involve anyone who wishes to come on to rural land must ask for permission of the owner first.

This helps farmers by letting the person asking permission to know where to go and where not to go. It also benefits the hunter by avoiding unnecessary accidents.

"Coming from an agriculture background, there has been a lot of times where I had friends that have had livestock shot. Maybe it's just a matter of them being aware of there being livestock in the area," said Sherri Usselman, a hunter from the local area.

Farmers can also help out the hunter's safety by making them aware of dugouts, sloughs, or any dangers in the area.

It is currently unknown when this law would come into effect.
