Following a burst water pipe on September 21, the City of Humboldt is moving ahead with installing a new pipe.

After work began on Monday to fix a watermain break at the intersection of Glenn Hall Drive and 7th Street, the city has decided to do away with the old watermain.

Due to its poor shape and to help avoid future issues, a new water pipe will be installed from the north leg to the south leg of 7th Street.

Installation of the pipe will begin on Thursday, which will prompt water service to be shut off for those on the 700 block of 7th Street.

The city estimates that water will be off from 9:00am to around 6:00pm throughout the day. Once service is restored, a drinking water advisory will be in place until test samples can be run.

New hydrants will also be installed on the southwest corner of 7th Street.
