Roger Nordick is one of three councillors seeking re-election in the same role when Humboldt votes on October 26.

Nordick is one of 11 residents in the running for six council spots, which is a repeat of the number of those who ran in 2012.

When discussing infrastructure, Nordick says the city must work carefully to plan ahead.

"Like most communities, we have many kilometres of road surfaces, underground water lines and sewer lines that are long past due," he noted. "This is a massive maintenance concern that requires significant planning and ongoing investment to upgrade existing infrastructure while cautiously investing in the future growth of our community."

Nordick added that city staff now have proper measures to anticipate future needs in the city with infrastructure.

In terms of helping the business community, Nordick cited three points of note.

"I would offer support to the Chamber of Commerce and Business Improvement District, working with them to create a shared vision and strategy for economic development," he explained. "I would also support the business community by creating a regulatory environment that provides business interest with timely, reliable, transparent resolutions to issues facing them in their business venture while remaining true to our long-term goals."

Nordick stated that another important piece for continued business development is consensus on a direction to move forward.

Among the topics that may be discussed amongst residents in the community, or at the upcoming candidates forum on Tuesday, October 18, Nordick believes that communication needs to be improved.

"I feel the overlying issue for the city is that council must significantly improve their method of communicating the neccessities and intentions of their deliberations in a timely approach in order to develop a clear, unified direction to build stronger trust relations between council and citizens."

"Achieving this objective would likely abolish much of the confusion that surrounds council decisions."

Nordick joins Larry Jorgenson and Sandy Weyland as those looking to return to council.

Also appearing on the ballot will be Justin Arendt, Michael Behiel, Sandor Demeter, Owen Hopfner, Amanda Klitch, Francis Kunz, Lorne Pratchler and Terry Schatz.
