Humboldt's Mayor Malcolm Eaton has proclaimed the 11th to 17th of April as "Dance Week" in the city.

The proclamation is coinciding with the 19th annual On Stage Dance Festival which starts Thursday.

Chair Joanne Berger is hoping for another great year with over 800 participants attending.

"It's doing awesome things and we really enjoy doing this because it's all about the dancers and the kids. We've been doing this for 19 years, next year will be our 20th and we're hoping for it to be a big year and a good celebration."

Berger covers some of the agenda for the next four days at the Uniplex.

"It's starting at 8 o'clock and it goes until approximately 9-9:30pm and then we're on for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday we have a dance off called the 'Golden Ticket' where the adjudicators will award golden tickets through out the festival towards cash prizes."

That's scheduled to begin at 3:30 Sunday afternoon.

This year the adjudicators are "Miss USA Dance" Angela Quinn, Calgary's Sarah Tabler plus former Humboldt resident Turner Norman.
