A 28-year-old Saskatoon area man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 5 west of Humboldt.

The collision, which occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, was between a westbound car and an eastbound gravel truck. It took place near the Highway 316 turnoff to Clavet.

RCMP say the car lost control and collided with the gravel truck. The driver of the car was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the gravel truck was not hurt.

An investigation continues, though police did note that the road was quite slippery throughout the early morning hours.

The highway was blocked off to traffic for a short amount of time, but has since been re-opened.
