A Calgary-based trucking company, one of its drivers and a bus manufacturer are being sued for negligence by the parents of a hockey player killed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

The lawsuit alleges Jaskirat Sidhu didn't get adequate training to operate a semi and recklessly or negligently drove through an intersection last April without regard for a stop sign and flashing lights.

It also alleges the bus wasn't designed to withstand the impact of the collision and wasn't equipped with shoulder harness seatbelts or early warning safety devices.

Russell and Raelene Herold of Montmartre, Saskatchewan have filed the statement of claim on behalf of their 16-year-old son Adam.

The allegations have not been proven in court and statements of defence have not yet been filed.
