The parade of red high heels in downtown Humboldt is returning once again.

PARTNERS Family Services has announced that their Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event is returning for a third year.

This year, however, there are some tweaks, according to Executive Director Hayley Kennedy.

"We moved the event to the fall because we have realized that June is such a busy month in Humboldt, and second we moved the time from the lunch hour to early evening, so more people will have the opportunity to join us."

The walk will take place on September 6, and is held to raise awareness for domestic violence, which PARTNERS has seen a rise in their caseloads.

"It's incredibly concerning for us. We've known that domestic violence has been a problem in our community and in many communities across Saskatchewan since I've been here."

Kennedy says that in the 2016-2017 fiscal year, their caseloads for domestic violence rose 153% from the previous year.

She adds that funds raised from the walk will go towards their client services.

"They are going to be used to support our rapidly growing crisis intervention services, and ensure we can continue to offer outreach services to our clients who are unable to attend our office for services."

The walk will still take place on Main Street, with a barbecue being held, along with other activities at Civic Park.

Those wanting to register can do so by going to the PARTNERS website.
