Update: PARTNERS has stated that due to an illness, the event has been cancelled.

PARTNERS Family Services in Humboldt continues to work towards an inclusive community vibe in the area.

With that, they are holding a LGBT information session on Thursday afternoon.

"We're really fortunate to partner again this year with OUT Saskatoon, Carlton Trail College and St. Peter's College to host this professional development piece at our office," said Executive Director Hayley Kennedy. "This year we'll be focusing on how we can create safe and inclusive spaces, using inclusive language and looking more at what it means to be gender diverse."

Kennedy added that the session is open to the public and is perfect for anyone working in human services, or even those who simply want more information.

It will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at PARTNERS' office, 905 5th Avenue. Registration can be done by calling 306-682-4135.

Working with those who identify as LGBT is something that the support organization has been looking to dive into, according to Kennedy.

"One of the areas we have identified as an agency as a gap that we haven't been serving is working with LGBT families. We really want to make sure that if we're doing that, we're doing it under best practices, that as an agency and community, we are well-informed."

"Our goal is to have safe and healthy communities and unless you have a point of access for those kind of issues, then we are not going to be able to support them."

A large part of their efforts was teaming up with multiple organizations to play a role in Humboldt Pride Week, which took place from September 12-18.

"We were really proud when we were approached to be part of Pride Week," explained Kennedy. "It was exceptionally important to us. The feedback has been fantastic, both with the clients we serve and the agencies we work with."

PARTNERS hosted a Rainbow Coffee Youth Group during the week.
