Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan has generously donated to another cause in the province.

The mining giant has been given naming rights after a $2.5 million donation to a new children's museum that is slated to open in Saskatoon in 2018.

The museum will be located at the former Mendel Art Gallery and is an important project for the future of today's children said PotashCorp President and CEO Jochen Tilk.

"A project like the new PotashCorp children’s museum is a great fit for us because not only will it be a fun place to visit, it will also help build the potential of some of our youngest citizens."

The PCS donation accounts for a quarter of the campaign goal which is $10 million. Around $4 million has now been raised.

"This transformative lead gift will help create a much-needed, high-caliber facility to serve our children, families and schools for years to come,” Robin Chapman, co-chair of the Children’s Discovery Museum on the Saskatchewan campaign, said in a media release.

Exhibits and programming for kids to explore science, culture, art and engineering will be featured at the new museum.
