The annual Pilger Pumpkin Festival was held on Saturday.

The Festival had activities including pumpkin carving, wagon rides, musical entertainment, and fireworks.

All of the money raised from the festival goes towards charity. Organizer Roman Dieringer tells us what charities they donate to.

"Humboldt Hospital, Children's Hospital, STARS, Bethany Pioneer Village, Fire Department, First Responders in Middle Lake, the Library gets a little bit and the Rec Board gets a little bit."

With the event now in its 11th year, there have been many different changes.

"We're trying to get more stuff for the younger kids to do to keep them busy," Dieringer added." The older people there are in the hall with the music and the younger crew is outside."

Around 650 people took in the activities that occurred. Some of those activities included pumpkin carving, pumpkin displays, horse and rides, bouncy castle, musical entertainment, and fireworks.

There was also the annual pumpkin growers contest, which saw Doreen Dobrohocski take the top spot with a weight of 314 pounds.

Joanie Bieringer came in second in the senior category at 155.5 pounds, while Margaret Cody's pumpkin weighed 148 pounds.

In the junior category, Wyatt Hoppe claimed first with a pumpkin of 142 pounds. Baynlee Pappenfoot finished second at 136 pounds, while Rory Poletski was third at 120 pounds.
