SaskPower is advising the Humboldt area of a power outage planned for early Wednesday morning.

The outage will take place from 5:30am to 7am.

The City of Humboldt, Bruno, Carmel, Peterson, Fulda, Middle Lake, St. Benedict and surrounding rurals, including rurals west to highway 2 will be affected.

The outage is for system maintenance.

SaskPower is also providing residents with tips as the mercury slowly drops in Saskatchewan and the temptation to turn up the thermostat is higher.

Heather Johnson with SaskPower provides more details regarding their peak time of the year.

"We definitely see some of our peak low uses come in the winter months, we've set peak records almost annually for the last, I think since 2007 we've set a new peak record almost every year. In fact, last year we set two all time records within a couple of days of each other."

"There is definitely the time when the most electricity gets used and we don't expect that to change especially with our cold weather in the winter time."

Customers are advised to turn down their thermostat at night to potentially save money on your power bill, as well as only keeping your car plugged in for about four hours this winter season

SaskPower is currently in a period where usage continues to grow across the province.

As a result the corporation continues to invest in ways to improve their systems across Saskatchewan.
