The Annaheim Playground Committee has recently received a large boost to their fundraising efforts, all thanks to one local business.

A $1000.00 cheque was presented to the Annaheim Playground Committee, on the behalf of Finish First Athletic Therapy owners Blair and Lisa Niekamp. They presented the cheque on Friday, February 8th at the town rink.

A member of the fundraiser committee, Charlene Choboter, talked about how the initial amount of the donation was a surprise upon being presented.

"The Niekamps had contacted me prior to making the donation, however, they did not state how much. So when they came back and we found out the amount, we were all really excited at how far that would go to help our cause."

She also went into detail about how this will impact the fundraiser.

"It makes a big change for us. It gets us to our goal that much faster, and that means we get a new playground just that much sooner.

Blair and Lisa Niekamp both grew up in Annaheim, and were moulded by the community and its members. When they saw a local cause that was aiming to replace a very old structure within the town, they jumped right on board. Although he and his wife have now resided within Humboldt for the past decade, Blair Niekamp went into detail about what it meant to them to give back to the place they grew up in.

"It really means the world to both my wife and I. We both grew up in Annaheim, and we actually played on that same playground set when we were in school. When we heard they were fundraising to get a new one, we knew right then that making a donation would be the best way we could support them."

With all said and done, the fundraiser is now one-third of the way to completing its goal of a new playground.
