A man from Buchanan is in some hot water following a chaotic event Thursday night on Highway 5.

The Canora RCMP pulled a vehicle over, after initially stopping, the driver suddenly reversed and rammed the police vehicle. After turning around, the vehicle again rammed the police unit; this time, head-on.

The suspect then exited the vehicle carrying an axe and proceeded to strike the police vehicle while yelling threats. Back-up units from Canora and Kamsack detachments arrived and the suspect was subdued and arrested.

The suspect and two members sustained minor injuries in the incident.

34 year-old Kristopher-Lee Steenman is facing 17 charges in all including Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer and three counts of Assault with a Weapon.

He's in custody and will appear in Yorkton court Monday.

Buchanan is located 175 kilometres east of Humboldt.
