With Remembrance Day fast approaching poppies are available to the people of Humboldt and the surrounding area.

People all over Canada wear the poppy from the 29th of October to November 11th.

The poppy is worn as a symbol of remembrance for those who passed away during times of war, both past and present. A poppy is to be worn on the left side of the collar or suit to remember those who have fallen in battle. People are encouraged to purchase a poppy with a donation going towards the national Poppy Fund to support war veterans.

"John McCrae's In Flanders Fields, the poppy was picked up as the symbol for remembrance and it has stood us in good stead ever since," said Al Hingley with the Humboldt Legion.

The Remembrance Day service is taking place on November 11th at 2 PM at the St. Augustine Parish after mass.
