One week after devastation struck the community of La Loche, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a trip to the Northern Saskatchewan town.

Trudeau promised residents that Ottawa will help them grieve and that there will be federal support for them for years to come.

The people of La Loche are continuing to heal from last weekend's mass shooting that killed four people and injured seven others.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Premier Brad Wall, and Senior Cabinet Minister Ralph Goodale on his visit where he laid flowers at a memorial and then held a meeting at the town hall with about 700 residents.

A 17 year-old boy who can not be named is charged with first degree murder and attempted murder in the mass shooting.

A funeral is being held on Saturday for Marie Janvier, the 21 year-old teacher's aide that was killed during the incident.
