The Prairie Spirit School Division has sent a letter to parents of students warning of possible job cuts.

The PSSD says that they will be suffering a $3 million shortfall on their budget if the province doesn't provide more funding for the 2016-17 school year.

If the money doesn't come, the division is stating 75 jobs could be cut. The potential cuts represent approximately six percent of Prairie Spirit staff at 45 schools.

The PSSD has schools in Clavet, Colonsay, Allan and Aberdeen.

When contacted, the division said the decision of where cuts will be made if any would be clarified in the coming months.

Education Minister Don Morgan is ensuring calmness among the trustees and is asking them not to make any decisions until after the April 4th election.
