St. Mary's Villa resident Leo Saretsky can't tell exactly which three squares in the quilt are the ones he painted.

Saretsky, who had never painted before, does remember how fun it was to make them.

"I got into the mood of it and I did what I could."

Saretsky, Barbara Thiel and Jean Petersen were selling raffle tickets Thursday for the quilt during the villa's annual trade show. Thiel said they'd already gone through three or four ticket booklets.

Residents coloured in the designs on each of the squares with fabric markers, and staff members Susan Saunders and Cathy Riendeau pieced together and quilted it.

"It looks great," Saretsky said. "Tickets are only $2 each and it all goes to the recreation program here in the villa."

The quilt will be on display at Haus of Stitches, and tickets will be available there and at the villa office. The draw is scheduled for December 2.

Saretsky said he "wouldn't hesitate" to help make another quilt someday.
