Another year of tax returns has led to a donation to health care in the region.

HSA Chartered Professional Accountants in Humboldt set aside one dollar for every tax return done this year and donated the total to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

It is the fourth year in a row that a donation has been made by HSA, with this year's donation being $2,672.

"We really appreciate and value these types of partnerships with businesses and residents of the district," said Lorrie Bunko, HDHF Executive Director.

"They're benefiting important organizations, as well as letting their customers know this is what they're doing, and their customers are happy with that."

Over four years, the running total is now $10,311, with a larger donation coming each year.

Bunko says that this latest donation will go towards the purchase of a G4 Gas Module, which is needed after the current one recently broke down and is not able to be repaired.

"It is used during anesthesia for monitoring real-time respiratory and anesthetic gases. Patients under anesthesia must undergo continuous physiologic monitoring," noted Bunko. "It enables the anesthetist to observe inspired and expired concentrations of oxygen and carbon dioxide as well as inhalational anesthetic agents."

Past donations have gone towards the purchase of a vein finder, among other equipment.
