Even the tiniest Riders fans took a break from the big game on Sunday to attend Watson's Arts and Crafts Sale, held at the Watson Civic Centre.

A sweet little baby girl with bright blue eyes, wearing a white bow on her head and a pint-sized Saskatchewan Roughriders outfit seemed just as excited as slightly older shoppers to be attending the inviting holiday-themed sale.

The arts and crafts sale has been an annual event in the Watson community for 23 years, according to show chairperson, Leslie McLeod.

"People can get out and see and shop...do Christmas shopping. We have coffee, sandwiches, and soup as well."

Beyond the shopping opportunity, the event is somewhat of a social event.

"People come out after church and have a little meal....(and) Mingle."

McLeod says the event is important to the community. The 41 vendors who brought their wares to sell at the show attracted many residents to the sale, and that all helps the town of Watson.

"All money from the proceeds of the craft sale go back towards Watson to different organizations and groups in the community."

The show featured everything from baking, jewelry, moccasins, clothing, handmade gifts and several home-based businesses. Potential vendors are encouraged to contact McLeod through her Facebook Event page if they are interested in participating next year.

When asked if the Roughrider game would affect the number of visitors this year, McLeod says, laughing, "It might! I hope not!"

Luckily, judging by the number of eager shoppers in attendance at the beginning of the sale, the show is sure to be just as much a success as any prior year.

"Rider Green" might be the predominant colour seen in the crowd at this year's sale though.
