Looking to keep up with their priorities and ensure proper safety is being directed, Safe Communities Humboldt and Area held a priority review on Wednesday.

Around 50 people attended the event, according to Executive Director Shari Hinz.

"We had a real good group of people attend to discuss what's happened since our previous priority review exercise in 2014," she explained. "We talked about gaps in programming or things they would like to see us an organization look at in the next few years."

Hinz noted that those in attendance ranged from educators to emergency medical services, as well as community leaders for other local centres.

Mandated every three years by Parachute - Canada's injury prevention leader - Hinz says that the review is a perfect opportunity to continue discussion.

"It's a good exercise for us as an organization, being community-based, to bring together people from the community to discuss what we should be doing as an organization."

Among the noted topics that did come up during discussion was foot traffic in Humboldt and those new to the city.

"There's been lots of pedestrian issues. There has been lots of comments and feedback on issues related to our newcomers and things they are not used to, whether it be impaired driving laws or changes they aren't used to."

The last and first review was held in March 2014.
