Safe Communities Humboldt & Area has a couple clinics coming up to help newcomers who have never experienced a winter in Saskatchewan.

"We provide a lot of great information at those clinics," explained Safe Communities Humboldt & Area Director Sheri Hinz. "Discussions that we cover include heating your home safely, suitable dress for winter, and conditions that can come about as a result of not doing that, such as frostbite, hypothermia, those types of things. We talk about pedestrian and roadway safety, winter driving being a huge part of that. We talk about child safety as well."

This is the sixth year that clinics have been held, andHinz says the feedback has been great.

"It's really easy to pick up a good tip on your own too, even if you have been a longstanding Saskatchewan resident. Feedback is always really positive, people are really appreciative of the information."

She tells us when the clinics will take place.

"We have two clinics in the region. The first one will be held on Thursday, October 19 at Carlton Trail College, and the second one will be held on Friday, October 20 at LeRoy School."

Those wanting to make clothing donations can do so by bringing their clothing to the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre on or before October 17.
